ARF suppression by MYC but not MYCN confers increased malignancy of aggressive pediatric brain tumors
First author publication from my PhD project work published in Nature Communications.
The publication describes our efforts to generate and characterise a transgenic model of Group 3 Medulloblastoma driven by MYC (the GMYC model). Furthermore, we investigated the subtle differences between this novel model and our previously established model driven by MYCN.
We emphasise the significance of ARF suppression in driving tumor growth and the need to evaluate how this can be leveraged in patients with MYC-driven tumors, where treatment options are suboptimal and patient survival is low.

My role
As first author and primary researcher, I was responsible for developing the manuscript from the initial draft through to publication. This included synthesising the scientific literature, interpreting experimental findings, structuring the narrative, preparing figures, coordinating revisions with co-authors, and responding to peer-review feedback throughout the publication process.

Communication considerations
Publishing in a high-impact journal required more than presenting accurate data, it also required communicating complex scientific findings in a way that was logical, evidence-based, and compelling to expert reviewers and leaders in the field. Every claim had to be supported by the data, and every section of the manuscript had to contribute to a clear scientific narrative.
